Kraken Kratom is a brand that has been around for a long time and gets a lot of web visitors due to it hugely visible presence in Google.
We have tried a lot of their various products and formed some opinions on them.
It is also worth noting that we have tried Kratom products from virtually all of the top brands and many of the more “underground” vendors as well(we have easily sampled leaf powders & extract from over 30 different Mitragyna Speciosa sellers).
So we definitely have some “perspective” when it comes to this industry and the quality of the various products sold by all the various vendors out there.
This wide experience we have sampling these items makes it easy for us to draw comparisons between them.
In this short review we will be covering a few of Kraken’s most popular products and then giving an overall brand summary at the end.
If you read the full thing, you will gain an intricate view of the different Mitragyna Speciosa products that are out there.
1.) Bali Kratom Powder
Bali is a popular Kraken strain that many people use for pain relief. Like most Kraken products, this strain comes in 3 sizes: 28 grams(1 ounce), 56 grams, and 112 grams.
Kraken does not really give a “color” name that they attribute to this strain, but we would say it feels mostly like a red.
It has a much “slower” vibe to it and wasn’t too “speedy”.
This is to be expected for most Kratom strains that vendors label “Bali”(obviously one of the most popular strain names that all vendors carry is called “Red Bali”).
Overall, we liked it, but it really wasn’t that much stronger from the average Bali Kratom you get from most other vendors out there.
2.) Maeng Da Thai Kratom (White Vein)
“Maeng Da”, also sometimes known as “MD”, is a popular strain name that pretty much all vendors use.
White Kratom has a more “speedy” vibe to it, as most people already know.
This White MD Thai strain is no different, and we found it to be a pretty good decent Kratom powder overall.
It also appears to be pretty popular based on the website categories on the official Kraken site.
3.) Super Green Malay
Kraken has stocked this strain for a long time and it appears that that is not going to change any time soon.
Green strains are preferred by certain people, even over reds sometimes for pain relief.
As with anything, it really comes down to personal preference.
There have been times where we could not get much pain relief from certain reds and had to use a green instead.
What Kraken has here in this Super Green Malay Kratom strain is no different from what we have experienced with most other vendors- a quality strain that is not too “fast” and not too “slow”.
It provides elements of both worlds- it can help concentration and it can also provide some pain relief as well.
Overall Rating For Kraken Kratom
A lot of people complain about the “sizes” that Kraken offers since they don’t package their powders in the most conventional sizes like 250 g, 500 g, 1000 g, etc.
But we think that that is a bit of a silly complaint since you can easily just order whatever amount you want from them anyways(from an overall perspective, at least).
Overall, we give Kraken 3 out of 5 stars for a few reasons.
Kraken is a brand that consistently stocks all of their different strains so if you like a particular one, you don’t have to wait around or keep track of when it is in stock and when it is not.
In addition to this, they offer several different payment options that are usually up-and-running for all of their customers.
They also have a large selection of different products.
On the downside, however, we have never found their leaf powders to be all that potent.
Their Kratom seems to be the average “industry standard” grade of mass-produced plantation leaf that is not necessarily that mature at time of harvest nor is it likely kept in the most optimal storage conditions before it is sold to you(leading to a degraded level of mitragynine in the end-product).
Of course, we are just speculating about their behind-the-scenes processing and product sourcing practices based on what we know about this industry in general.
But the bottom line is that their Kratom doesn’t really “pack a punch” the way certain other vendors do.
Potency is super important to us because we don’t want to have to take a huge amount of raw leaf just to get a certain effect- if you can get by with consuming less overall Kratom powder per day you are better off since this reduces the negative effects you experience(and overall leaves you with more natural energy as a result).
We give Kraken Kratom a 3/5 star rating, though, because they are most definitely a reliable source of familiar and consistent Kratom strains when you need them.
Their shipping has usually been pretty timely as well(which is another bonus).
Alternatives To Kraken Kratom
It is a good time to be a Kratom consumer because there are many different vendors out there that stock a huge variety of different Mitragyna products right now.
We have been sampling various products from a bunch of different vendors including Kraken, Original Harvest, and Coastline.
The most potent Kratom powder we have come across is still this Maeng Da strain which we are certain has a better alkaloid content.
Using a high-potency Kratom product is important to us because a higher mitragynine content means you have to consume less overall powder to get the same desired effects(this means less side effects and an overall “smoother” and more “clear-headed” experience in general).
This whole space is undergoing a lot of interesting developments and we are really excited to see what the future has to offer to us Kratom consumers.
There are talks of various new “types” of products being developed currently- for example, an “extended-release” Kratom tablet/pill that comes ready-made for you so that you can take less doses per day in a more convenient way.
There are several different companies entertaining and/or actively working on this idea and we will be the first to try these extended-release versions out when they are released.
Such tablets could be particularly useful for things like sleeping which would be a lot “smoother” if we had an extended-release Kratom to take.
